Turkey – big projects the next five years
Turkey is one of those countries in the world that strives to improve every day. The results are visible from their time-to-time optimal growth. As one of the high-tech countries, Turkey focuses on its overall growth in various sectors. The next five years in Turkey call for all eyes on them. The country looks forward to some bigger projects, which will be life-changing. Are you wondering, what are they? Well, have a look below.
The Istanbul Canal
Turkey is currently focused on building up a Bosphorus-like canal. This canal will be about 45 kilometers long. It will bridge the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish President, had agreed to begin the project in 2017. The work is still going on. One of the reasons for this big project is to reduce overcrowding. Also, it will reduce the risks for sea tankers in the Bosphorus Strait. The total cost for this project is 13 billion US dollars.
Istanbul Third Airport
At least 22 billion euros will get involved in the preparation of the Istanbul Third Airport. The total cost of the entire airport is, however, 25.6 billion euros. This massive project of Turkey is targeting a capacity of 150 million passengers. As one of the biggest tenders in Turkey, this project serves to be one of the most important ones in the world. It will connect the major countries with Turkey for easy connectivity and high exposure. Thus, it will make Turkey grow more economically. This project will get completed by 2025.
Nuclear Plants
Two of the most significant projects in the coming five years in Turkey are the Sinop and Akkuyu. The Sinop nuclear plant is a 22 billion dollar project. It will have a nominal capacity of 4,480 MWe. Besides, this nuclear power plant will use 500000 types of machinery or equipment. At the same time, it will use local products. On the contrary, Akkuyu is a 20 billion dollar project. It will come with a rated capacity of 4,456 MW. Also, the nuclear plant will install ATMEA-1 type Reactors. Both the Sinop and Akkuyu nuclear plants will form 10% of the total nominal capacity in Turkey.
The Three-Level Istanbul Grand Tunnel
This project aims to promote traffic in Istanbul. This grand project will link the Asian portion of the city to its European counterpart. Also, it will help in reducing the pressure on the other three bridges that connect either side of the country. The tunnel will consist of one cylinder, which will include three-level lanes. Two lanes will be for vehicles, and the other will be used for train and metro purposes. The bridge will have a length of 6.5 km. It will involve a total cost of 3.5 billion dollars.
Conclusion
Turkey is marking its growth in every possible way. All these major projects, which are currently under construction, are expected to be completed by 2026. These projects will help the country achieve substantial economic growth. Besides, it will also give Turkey a new identity in front of the world.
